WALL STREET STOCKS ATTEMPT RECOVERY EDGES HIGHER AS INDUSTRIAL

(Reuters) - Wall Street's primary files edged higher on Thursday as mechanical stocks increased after three days of misfortunes because of fears of exchange war amongst China and the United States.

The S&P modern record (SPLRCI) was up 0.15 percent, helped by picks up in Caterpillar (N:CAT) and General Electric (N:GE). Offers of planemaker Boeing (N:BA) pared early misfortunes to exchange down 0.8 percent.

The business sectors discovered help from monetary information that demonstrated the quantity of Americans petitioning for joblessness benefits fell a week ago, indicating quality in labor showcase.

A more than anticipated ascent in U.S. import costs in February demonstrated an enduring get in swelling.

At 10:09 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) rose 0.37 percent to 24,848.55. The S&P 500 (SPX) increased 0.12 percent to 2,752.75 and the Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) was down only 0.03 percent at 7,494.93.

The files fell on Wednesday after U.S. President Donald Trump looked to force taxes up to $60 billion on Chinese imports, while squeezing for a cut in China's exchange surplus with the United States by $100 billion.

Chinese Foreign Ministry representative Lu Kang said history demonstrated exchange wars are to no one's greatest advantage, yet that China would ensure its honest to goodness rights if "something happens we would prefer not to see".

"The issue is this sort of talk makes vulnerabilities and top the business sectors," said Peter Cardillo, boss market financial analyst at First Standard Financial in New York. "We're presumably going to keep on slipping all through the less segment for the majority of the day, we may have the capacity to have a mid-session with upward inclination."

Trump's choice to force levies on steel and aluminum imports and on sun based boards and clothes washers has just started dangers of striking back from some exchange accomplices.

Offers in flying machine producer Boeing (N:BA) have shed 8.8 percent since March 1, when Trump reported his intends to force taxes.

The stock was down another 1 percent in morning exchanging.

Major modern stocks have been experiencing strain from the protectionist strategies, which are probably going to solidify with Trump supplanting organized commerce advocate Gary Cohn with preservationist pundit Larry Kudlow to lead the National Economic Council.

Alibaba (N:BABA) bounced almost 3 percent on report that the Chinese online business mammoth was wanting to list in China.

Offers of Dollar General (N:DG) rose 5.8 percent after the markdown retailer's quarterly same-store deals beat gauges, and those of Sears Holdings Corp (O:SHLD) picked up 5 percent after the retailer announced littler than-anticipated drop in same-store deals.

Alexion Pharmaceuticals (O:ALXN) rose 8.45 percent after the organization's exploratory medication to treat patients with an uncommon blood issue met the primary objective in a late-arrange think about.

Propelling issues dwarfed decliners on the NYSE by 1,459 to 1,030. On the Nasdaq, 1,238 issues rose and 1,113 fell.

CONSIDER THESE BEFORE TRADING FOREX

So you have seen the advertises on the internet or maybe been to a seminar on how forex will make you rich overnight. The truth is to tell you the reality that 90% of retail FX clients do not make money and most accounts are wiped out in under 6 months.

But it’s not all that bad money can be made from FX but not by doing what the majority do, Some people have made huge fortunes just Trading. A young South African Sandile is one of them, a young trader who successful made money trading, and there are many more.. just to name a few.

I have traded for a time, but its a full time job trading. You need to follow up the news, Look for possible market ENTRIES and EXITS etc. Although some brokers offers automation on some point to EXIT a trade at a determined Profit or Loss.

Its fun trading! ...and you can make a lot of money while trading.
However consider these, make sure you invest the amount of money your are willing to lose.

1. Forgot about buying fancy software and don’t waste your money on FX robots. It’s easy to get blown away on-line trading, real time data, charts, business channels and bells and whistles. The truth is, less is more, and information overload makes you a worse trader. The more complicated your system, the less chance it will work or that you will follow it. The majority of technical trading indicators are a total waste of time and you do not need to waste money on expensive trading software that claims to predict markets. The most important factor when trading any market is the price.

2. Day trading FX is a waste of time ultimately you will lose money.

3. The most successful FX traders make money from longer term trends. Some traders held currency trades for days, weeks, months and even years – not quite what the media make you believe that you have to be glued to 10 screens all day.Brokers want you to over trade as that way they make more commission and spread.

4. Whilst charts can be helpful do not look at short term charts they provide no value and are near random. Use Daily, Weekly and monthly charts. The main tools are trend lines, Moving averages and support and resistance levels. Keep it simple.

5. New traders should avoid OTC FX brokers and should not use margined FX. To start with consider Exchange Traded Funds on currencies and options on currency futures. You get a better deal and have more protection using a currency futures contract than and OTC broker. Be aware what FX brokers often claim “tight spreads” which are misleading.

6. Many traders don’t realise the news they hear and read has, in many cases, already been discounted by the market. Often, new traders jump into a market based on a story in the morning; the market many times has already discounted the information.

7. Trade with what you SEE not what you Think. You may think the Euro is overvalued and you may be right eventually, but if the price is moving from 1.26, 1.28 ,1.32, 1.37, it does not matter what you think, it does not matter what the so called FX prof. says, the price is moving up and you should be trading with the trend.

8. Many focus on the major currency pairs but over the years some people have made large amounts from trading the not so well covered currencies such as Norwegian Crown, Swedish Korna and South African Rand.

9. Some times the best trades in FX are the ones you don’t make! Some people trades currencies, commodities, stocks and bonds and can move from one market to another. If the FX market is dull he will move focus to funds and commodities. Oil or Brent for example.

10. New traders just think about the entry of a trade, truth is the EXIT is more important than getting IN. It’s a bit a like a relationship it’s easier to get in than to get out, also the money management and the amount you risk per trade is a factor that many do not spend enough time considering.

The second-generation Nokia 6 has a better processor, USB-C, and more RAM 11 For sale in China only so far

The second generation of the Nokia 6 has been revealed, featuring a better processor, USB-C (instead of Micro USB), and more RAM at 4GB (up from 3GB). The updated version also features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, whereas the original had a Snapdragon 430 processor. The changes bring it from more of a low-end to a midrange device, while the price is still the same (around $230), so it’s a nice upgrade.
The overall design remains mostly similar, though the fingerprint scanner has been moved from beneath the front screen to the back of the phone. The device is also a bit smaller, though it’s a tad thicker, too (by about 1mm). Both devices have a 5.5-inch 1080p screen and retain the 16-megapixel rear camera.
There are options for 32GB or 64GB of storage, which is expandable via microSD up to 128GB. Nokia says the USB-C charger also delivers up to 50 percent power in 30 minutes. It ships with Android Nougat 7.1.1, with support for Android Oreo to come. The new Nokia 6 is currently available for preorder for ¥1,499 in China (about $230) for the 32GB model, but there’s no indication about if and when it will be released in other markets. HMD Global, which makes Nokia phones, usually launches products in China before bringing them to Europe and the US a few months later.

At Least Three Billion Computer Chips Have the Spectre Security Hole

ech companies are still working overtime on patching two critical vulnerabilities in computer chips that were revealed this week. The flaws, dubbed “Meltdown” and “Spectre,” could let hackers get hold of passwords, encryption keys, and other sensitive information from a computer’s core memory via malicious apps running on devices.
How many chips are affected? The number is something of a moving target. But from the information released so far by tech companies and estimates from chip industry analysts, it looks as if at least three billion chips in computers, tablets, and phones now in use are vulnerable to attack by Spectre, which is the more widespread of the two flaws.
Apple says all its Mac and iOS products are affected, with the exception of the Apple watch. That’s a billion or so devices. Gadgets powered by Google’s Android operating system number more than two billion, the company said last year. Linley Gwennap of the Linley Group, which tracks the chip industry, thinks the security flaws could affect about 500 million of them.
As practically all smartphones run on iOS and Android—sorry, BlackBerry holdouts—this pretty much covers the mobile-device landscape.
Next, there are PCs and servers. These are largely powered by chips from Intel, whose share price has been battered since news of the flaws emerged. Its chief U.S. competitor, AMD, which has been gaining groundon Intel, said in a blog post  that its chips are not vulnerable to Meltdown and there is a “near zero risk” from one variant of Spectre and zero risk from another.
Still, if some level of threat from Spectre exists, AMD chips merit inclusion. Between them Intel and AMD account for over a billion PC and server chips. In addition, there are a host of smaller chipmakers such as IBM, which has said at least some of its chips are affected. This brings the total to around three billion processors, though this could change as more information emerges.
That doesn’t mean they all need to be replaced. Tech companies have been rushing out software fixes to deal with Meltdown, and while Spectre is harder to eliminate, some patches have been issued that reduce the risk it poses. Hope is growing among security researchers for a software fix that removes the threat altogether. The good news is that Spectre is really hard to exploit—which doesn’t mean hackers won’t try.
Mark Weatherford, a former senior official at the Department of Homeland Security who’s now at cybersecurity firm vArmour, says companies may still choose to replace hardware in particularly sensitive areas; in most others, they’ll need to apply patches swiftly and take other basic security measures.
As for consumers: if your computer or phone offers you an operating system upgrade, take it immediately.

Alienware Reveals New Area-51 Design

In what has to be one of the most unique designs ever, Alienware announced the revamped Area-51 model which features a triad-designed chassis. True to their name, Alienware has always had a desktop case that appeared to be from another world, but the new triad version is the most interesting yet in my opinion.
According to Alienware, the design of the case is for both thermal management, and ergonomics. Though we will need to wait for reviews to see how they accomplished both, looking at the angled front of the case does make it seem easier to use if the tower is on the floor like my own PC, but with a case so unique, you may want to keep it on your desk just to admire it. Another ergonomic improvement is the case is designed to be pivoted forward to allow easier access to the rear connections, which might work quite well. The case is also designed to be easy to get into for system upgrades in the future.
The second goal, according to Alieware, is thermal management, and here we will just have to wait and see how it performs. The claim is that the larger area at the rear makes it easier for hot air to escape. Internal cable management is also claimed to not impede airflow any more than necessary, but any system with the cost of an Alienware should have good cable management anyway.
The unique shape of the case also does not get in the way when it comes to graphics card installation, with the new Area-51 supporting up to three full-length double-wide GPUs, or up to quad-GPUs assuming smaller cards are obtained. According to the manufacturer, this new Area-51 can then support up to three Ultra HD (4K) monitors for a very immersive experience and an overall resolution of 11520x2160.
The announcement today of the Area-51 was no accident, with the new model featuring the Haswell-E processor with up to 8 cores, and the X99 chipset, both which were just revealed today. Other notable features is support for up to 32 GB of RAM, a 1500 watt power supply, both SSD and HDD, plus 802.11ac wireless.
Finally, on the software end, the Area-51 comes with Command Center 4.0 which allows both overclocking and customization of the case lighting with up to twenty colors in nine zones to make the device your own. I used to own an Alienware M11x R2, and I have to admit one of the coolest things about it was being able to customize the color layout of the keyboard and other lights, and you can also have per-user customizations so that everyone has their own.
Pricing and availability are not yet known, with the system only as “Coming Soon” so if you are in the market for an OEM gaming system, be sure to check this one out.

Dell CES Hands On

We got a chance to gets some hands on time with the new Dell products yesterday. Likely the biggest announcement was the Dell XPS 13, with what Dell is calling an Infinity Display. The Dell Venue 8 7000 tablet also has the Infinity Display. It was a great looking piece. Also on display was the Alienware products, with the top of the line Area 51 showing prominently. The Alienware 13 was also on display, with the external graphics amplifier. New to the lineup is the slimmed down versions of the Alienware 15 and 17, both of which also support the external graphics amplifier.
The Area 51 is Alienware’s top gaming desktop, available with X99 based CPUs and multiple graphics cards. It was announced a couple of months ago, and the first thing anyone will notice is the distinct shape and styling of the case. The internals are mounted on an angle, which is said to enhance cooling.
Next we got to check out the laptops from Alienware. The 13 was previously announced but the new models are the 15 and 17, both of which share styling with the 13. They are much thinner than their predecessors. As seems to be the case with Alienware, almost everything has backlights including the trackpads. It is an interesting effect, and is fully customizable and owners can set the lighting to whatever color they like, or disable it if they prefer. On top of this, if someone wants more graphics power than their internal GPU can handle, the graphics amplifier allows pretty much any graphics card to be leveraged to power either the internal display or external monitor if you want more of a dock experience.
To me the most exciting thing from Dell was the new XPS 13. Dell basically managed to fit a 13” display into an 11” chassis, and the result is a super thin bezel which Dell calls Infinity Display. It was striking to look at, and according to Dell’s representative the display is IGZO, which should mean that it has the standard RGB stripe. Broadwell is the name of the game this CES, and the XPS 13 is powered by the new Intel CPU. Also on display was the updated XPS 15, which is now sporting a 4K display.
Also on the show floor was a couple of tablets from Dell. Dell’s Venue line is divided between Windows and Android with the “Pro” name. Dell’s recently launched Venue 11 Pro was available to see, and this 11” tablet is offered with either Atom or Core-M processors.
The Venue 8 7000 tablet was a striking to see in the dark room, with its 2560x1600 OLED display packing quite a punch and having the incredible blacks that OLED is known for. It is Intel powered, and performance was quite good. This will be Bay Trail of course, with Cherry Trail just now shipping to OEMs.
Dell has some great new products coming out, and I love to see how coordinated the styling is getting among the manufacturers. We look forward to getting some of these in for review to dig into them some more.

Toshiba Launches MN06ACA 10 TB HDD for NAS: 7 Platters, Up to 249 MB/s

Toshiba continues to apply its seven-platter HDD platform to new applications and market segments, increasing hard drive capacity to 10 TB and slightly improving performance. Recently the company introduced its 10 TB HDD for SOHO and SMB NAS appliances that is designed to operate for 24/7 in vibrating multi-drive environments. The drive promises to be faster than competitors of the same class (and even some higher-end rivals), at a cost of a higher power consumption.
Toshiba’s MN06ACA 10 TB hard drive for NAS is based on the company’s HDD platform that leverages seven 1.43 TB PMR platters along with a 7200 RPM spindle speed, a 256 MB cache buffer and a SATA 6 Gbps interface. The 10TB HDD for NAS is well prepared to work in vibrating multi-bay environments — it features top and bottom attached motors, rotational vibration (RV) sensors that detect and compensate for transient vibrations, second-generation dual-stage actuators, and some other enhancements.
To a large degree, the MG06ACA resembles Toshiba’s recently announced MG06ACA HDDs for enterprise/cloud datacentres and MD06ACA-V HDDs for video surveillance that use the same platform, but come with different firmware and components. The MN06ACA10T HDD supports 512e technology (4K physical sectors on the platter with 512-byte logical configuration reported to the host) to maintain compatibility with legacy applications, but is also compatible with modern NAS appliances. Meanwhile, unlike the enterprise-class MG06, the MN06 does not support persistent write cache with power loss protection technology. As for reliability, Toshiba rates the MN06ACA HDDs for 180 TB annual workload as well as for one million hours MTBF rating.

Since Toshiba’s new 10 TB HDD is based on the company’s seven-platter platform, its performance is rather high — up to 249 MB/s sustained transfer rate, which is significantly faster when compared to other 10 TB hard drives for SOHO/SMB NAS (which feature a 5400 RPM spindle speed) and which even outperforms higher-end models for big business/enterprise NAS. Meanwhile, not everything is rosy with power consumption of the MN06ACA10T. The HDD consumes 9.2 W in operating mode and 7.2 W in active idle mode, which is 61% and 157% higher (respectively) when compared to the latest generation helium-filled WD Red/WD Red Pro drives.
If you run a four-bay NAS at home or in an office of a small company and the HDDs sleep most of the time, power consumption may not be an issue worth talking about. But if you run a fully populated 8-bay NAS that is accessed 24/7 and spends 50% time in active idle (I am omitting cases when they actually perform read and write operations, but they naturally don’t play in Toshiba’s favour here), then the difference in power consumption between Toshiba’s MN06 10 TB and WD’s Red Pro 10 TB over three to five years will be rather noticeable ($48 in three years and $80 in five years, see the table below for details), but not critical, if Toshiba prices its drives right. Obviously, the relatively high power consumption is a payback for not adopting helium for the seven-platter drives, but avoiding helium lowers costs, so Toshiba gets more flexible in terms of pricing.

*According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, average retail price of a kWh was $0.1041 as of January, 2017. In the states of Alaska, California, Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont electricity costs sigifnicantly more, at $0.14 - $0.17, so the HDD electricity costs will be different.

Note: All numbers are rounded.
Toshiba understands that power consumption is not a strong side of the MN06ACA10T HDD and officially positions the drive for SOHO and SMB NAS appliances as well as for archive and data backup applications, where it is not going to be a significant problem (archives and backups are rarely accessed and spend most of the time sleeping). Moreover, since formally the MN06 is positioned to compete against Seagate’s IronWolf and WD’s Red drives, it has an edge over rivals when it comes to performance.
Toshiba says that its 10 TB HDDs for NAS are already available to interested parties. The company does not disclose pricing because it is subject to negotiations, as well as planned retail availability timeframe.
