Acer: Swift 7 Is 'World's Thinnest Laptop'

Acer today tipped its CES 2018 lineup, which includes the ultra-portable Swift 7 and the affordable Nitro 5 gaming laptop.

Those systems are joined by the Spin 3 and Chromebook 11. Acer also revealed availability for the Switch 7 Black Edition and Predator Orion 9000 Series, which were both unveiled at IFA last year.
The Swift 7, described by Acer as the thinnest computer in the world at 8.98mm, is powered by a seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor and includes 4G LTE connectivity. It offers a 14-inch full HD touch display and up to 10 hours of battery life. With these features, and its all-black aluminum body, the system is aimed at professional users seeking portability. It will be available in March starting at $1,699.
The updated Nitro 5 is aimed at more casual gamers, with a low $799 starting price. It packs AMD Radeon RX560 graphics, the latest AMD Ryzen mobile chips, and faster memory than before. It also includes the Nitro Sense GPU/CPU monitoring software, which provides real-time metrics for those components. The new Nitro 5 will be available in May

Finally for the new products, the Chromebook 11 is a refresh of Acer's 11.6-inch ChromeOS system. The very portable fanless laptop can be ordered with a touch or non-touch display, and provides up to 10 hours of battery life. It includes two USB-C ports, useful for connecting to external displays. It will be available in April starting at $249.
Rounding out the announcements are launch dates for the Switch 7 Black Edition and Predator Orion 9000 Series. The former, the world's first fanless 2-in-1 with discrete graphics, will be available later this month starting at $1,699. The Orion 9000 Series is a powerful gaming desktop that can be outfitted with top-end components like an Intel Core i9 Extreme Edition processor and dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards. It will launch in February starting at $1,999.
